School teacher´s former role in Spain consisted on teaching. However and in addition, in recent decades, the demand for research has increased. This forces teachers’ initial training to seek new strategies capable of responding to that request. A new way of thinking about the important role of teachers in innovation processes invites to detect perfectible aspects of the intervention itself. Thus, we can design and implement actions aimed at achieving progressively advances that optimize it by enhancing the so-called professional development of teachers. After evaluating various options, this modern demand suggests taking participative action research or teacher research on the practice, as a means of inquiry. Participative action research allows the use of critical reflection on own performances to advance quality.
